Workshops

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS

Three workshops will be organized before the conference (26 & 27 August). Participation is included in the conference fee. The pre-conference workshops will focus on different aspects: 

  • Combined Sewer Overflow Assessment (26/8: 17:00 - 21:00)
  • Sewer Processes: predicting odor and corrosion in sewers (27/8: 09:00 - 12:30)
  • Sewer Sediments: sampling, characterization and modelling (27/8: 13:30 - 17:00)


The workshops will be held at the "AAU Create" building, which is located near the conference venue in the city centre.


Combined Sewer Overflow Assessment Workshop

This workshop was announced after the registration was launched and is therefore not included on the registration form. To register for the workshop and inform us about your specific interests, the organizers have set up the following survey <link>


The Combined Sewer Overflow Assessment Workshop will focus on how the ongoing digitization impacts the assessment of combined sewer overflows.

It will take place on 26.08 betwenn 17:00 and 21:00. The workshop will address several topics - including:

  • State of the art the impact assessment of combined sewer overflows
  • International activities on recent regulation and performance assessment
  • Informing ongoing policy activities, such as EU regulation.

Sewer Processes Workshop

The Sewer Processes Workshop will focus on modelling of odor and corrosion of sewer networks. The workshop will start 27.08 in the morning at 09:00 and finish around lunch. The workshop will address several topics - including:

  • State-of-the-art of sewer process modelling
  • Examples of real world model application
  • Future research needs

Sewer Sediments Workshop

This 3-hour workshop will focus on the behaviour of TSS in sewer. The workshop will be held 27.08 in the afternoon. All physical processes will be addressed (transport, settling, resuspension, consolidation, flocculation, …), thus excluding bio-chemical processes (e.g. biofilms, in-sediment reactions, …). Out of scope as well are catchment run-off aspects, and special structures such as retention tanks, overflow treatment equipment,

The workshop is organised around three main axes:

  • Sampling
  • Characterization
  • Modelling
